Hi folks, in Ireland, the transmitting authority is RTENL or https://2rn.ie/
They belong to a group of transmission authorities who have standardised their broadcast transmissions in order to simplify receiver manufacturer production costs and legacy platform management.
"Within the NorDig group (the transmission authorities of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Ireland) we test receivers designed to operate within our respective jurisdictions and certify these as “Approved” devices; this approvals process ensures that the Irish consumer can purchase receive equipment in the confidence and knowledge that all future platform developments and enhancements will function correctly with the (Saorview) approved receiver"
This means that they either correctly or incorrectly tag the Irish language streams as follows:
- labelled as: 'iri' instead of 'gle'
I've been beating my head against the wall for a number of years trying to get them to correct this but no, they're adamant that they're not changing.
Is it possible to add an additional language tag "iri" in order to set an audio stream filter - the majority of people in Ireland don't speak Irish and the stream is broadcast in mono and defaults to "iri" necessitating a manual change every time a channel is selected.
Thanks a million
