TVH with Kathrein EXIP 418 - RSTP SETUP error -5 (SAT>IP)

I'm trying to set-up my SAT-IP TV, but, untill now just failed.

LibereELEC (version 12.2.1) with installed TVheadend-Server (verison12.2.0.3) on Raspberry Pi-3.
Sat to IP Server is a Kathrein EXIP 418

Based on this guideline

I made the configuration in the web interface and followed the instruction go get the rest.

When running the networks force-scan the following happens:

I have TV-Headend 4.3-1916_g1884300f0 running in a Docker Container on my synology.. also with Kathrein EXIP (but 414/E).
How far are you? Do you see EXIP in DVB Inputs-> TV Adapters?
Do you have Astra in DVB Inputs -> Networks?
Do you have the channels in DVB Inputs -> Muxes?
Do you have Services in DVB Inputs -> Services?

I can send you my config if you want?

What the errors actually mean

“scan no data, failed”
Tvheadend tuned to a mux (e.g., 11406 V), but received no MPEG‑TS packets.
This usually means:
The tuner never delivered data, not that the transponder is dead.
“RTSP SETUP error -5 (Input/output error) [6‑503]”
This is the key.
RTSP SETUP is the command Tvheadend sends to the SAT>IP server to open a streaming session.
Error -5 means:
Tvheadend could not establish or maintain the RTSP session with the SAT>IP server.

This is almost always caused by:

Network issues (packet loss, multicast blocked, wrong interface)
SAT>IP server refusing connections (too many sessions, firmware bug)
UDP ports blocked or misconfigured
Tvheadend using the wrong IP or wrong RTSP port
SAT>IP device overloaded or rebooting
Both tuners fail simultaneously
This strongly suggests network or SAT>IP server problem, not a dish or LNB issue.

Likely causes (ranked)

Multicast / UDP blocked or unstable
SAT>IP uses:
RTSP over TCP (port 554 or 9983 depending on device)
RTP/RTCP over UDP (random ports)
If your router/switch blocks or filters multicast, you get exactly this behavior.
Wrong SAT>IP configuration in Tvheadend
Common issues:
Wrong RTSP port (some devices use 554, others 9983)
Wrong device IP (Tvheadend tries to talk to an old IP)
“Force TCP” disabled (some devices require it)
SAT>IP server overloaded or crashed
If you use:
Octopus Net
Telestar Digibit R1
Triax TSS400
Selfsat SAT>IP
…these are known to freeze under multiple parallel scans.
Network topology problems
Examples:
SAT>IP device on Wi‑Fi (never do this)
Tvheadend in a VM with wrong bridge mode
VLANs blocking multicast

What you can test quickly

Can you open the SAT>IP device’s web interface?
If not → network issue.
Restart the SAT>IP box
These devices often hang under load.
In Tvheadend → SAT>IP client settings
Check:
RTSP port (try 554 and 9983)
Enable “Force RTSP over TCP”
Disable “Full mux RX mode” (some devices choke on it)
Reduce number of concurrent tuners to 1 for testing
Try tuning a single mux manually
Configuration → DVB Inputs → Muxes → Select → “Force Scan”
If that works, but auto-scan fails → concurrency issue.

I'm no crack in TVHeadend.. but you can ask for my Settings..

Many thanks for your fedback. There is a lot to check.

I'm having perfect SAT reception (Astra 19.2E) on the PC with VCL that gets the data from a m3u list.

Having had enough with Astra, I did a run with Hotbird 13E and it worked. At the moment I do not have access, but I think I got 12 out of 22 stations. Setting identical as to them used for Astra and those stations were not tried if a picture is actually received.

Yes, EXIP is listed, all 8 tuners.
Yes, Astra is in Networks.
Yes, 62 Astra channels are in the Muxes.
A try was made with a single Astra MUX -> no success.

My feeling is that either the communication between devices is not smoth or the Astra Mux is corrupted. But due to the fact that Hotbird worked I'm rather confused.

I will check everything in 2 weeks when I have access to the sysem.
At least, thanks to you, I have a excelent list to start pinpointing.

It would be great if you could send me your configuration details. Would provide me with a blueprint to start with.

here are my Settings:

If i do a "Force Scan" under Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Networks on Astra, it looks like the following Picture in the Section Status:

I remember i've had to check one of the checkboxes somewhere in Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> TV Adapters to make it work.. but i can't remember which one (maybe it was only DVB-S2 related).

Another question: Astra is working correctly with you m3u File and an standalone sat receiver? So your SAT cabeling setup is correct?

Yes, Astra is correctly working on the PC with the m3u file.
No, it is not a standallone receiver. Data is received from the same EXIP.
So cabling must be correct, I presume.
Maybe not relevant, but I'm not watching TV whilst trying to setup TVH.

Finally got it working.
Implementing the setings proposed by you.
By coinsident I came across the RTSP rate of 554.
Having entered that rate and started with one network and one preset mux ist worked.
