Customize Kodi Display of Recordings

DeltaMikeCharlie The fields that I want are listed so what I want should be possible. I would imagine that Kodi picks of the information that TVH presents then puts into the various display fields. I am guessing I do not know nearly enough about how this process works. I have done a little Python programming but I am no where near an expert. Is there any kind of a source or tutorial to figure out how to modify Kodi to display the listed fields and where it puts them?

@Eric S - Please list the fields that you are after.

DeltaMikeCharlie I just wanted to make sure that the Title, Subtitle, Season and Episode (If applicable), new tag and summary/description were displayed if available. I am pretty sure the data exists in the EPG and I just want to see it displayed in Kodi Guide and EPG. I thought that I saw at one point that certain tags could change the color of the EPG background, that might be nice as well.

I did some testing today and most of the fields that you describe are already provided.

Title
Subtitle (Also call the short description in some places)
Summary/Description (Kodi calls this the 'Plot')
Season number
Episode number

A New/repeat flag is not supported by HTSP as far as I can tell.

What are your TVH and Kodi versions?
Which Kodi skin are you using?

Ok, I am using Kodi Media Center 21.2 (Omega) on a LibreELEC install of 12.0.2. The TVH version is 4.3-2180 that also says LibreElec Tvh-addon v12.0.0.3.

I have only ever used the Default Kodi skin, except for the fact that I would love to have Animated weather icons under the Weather menu none of the other skins have ever appealed.

I am pretty sure that the information is available but for whatever reason the EPG data being sent to the Recordings area doesn't reflect it all. I figured if I could understand how it worked I might be able to change it to my liking.

@Eric S - Can you please post some screenshots highlighting the problems you are having?

1) The EPG event details from the TVH WebUI showing that the fields that you want are present.
2) The EPG event details from the Kodi.
3) The completed recording information from TVH.
4) The completed recording information from Kodi.

You also mentioned 'Content icons'. Are you referring to the icons that represent the genre such as News/Sport/Gameshow/Move/Children, etc? If so, to the best of my knowledge, Kodi will display its language-specific version of the genre text, but does not display any genre icons.

As you can see the Episode data is listed everywhere but in Kodi. Since the information is definitely present I should be able to get it to display in Kodi, but for some reason it is different. I did find the log entries in Kodi if I wanted to change what is shown but I would much rather do that automatically.

Do you have any suggestions?

Create a feature request thread in the Kodi forum to ask the Kodi devs to expose season/episode information in those screens. Make sure you include information on how to navigate to and replicate the GUI experience you are currently seeing. Provide screenshots etc. as you've done here.

chewitt Since the Season and Episode data is there when other types of EPG are used I thought it would be something that I could change myself. Would other's want a feature request where you could customize all of the data appearing in the Recordings menu?

Maybe there is a version problem because my Kodi shows the season/episode details.

It is also shown in the developer documentation.

There is mention of a change made for v15, as we are currently on v21, I'd say that this field has been available for some time.

According to the GitHub history, this feature has been there for many years, however, it was modified in October 2024. Perhaps your system needs that modification to work.

I know that it is there depending on the EPG source data. I used zap2xml for grabbing tvlistings for years without an issue, then when they shutdown I switched to webgrab+plus with tvguide.com as the source. Every since then the data is displayed is different even though it is present. I thought perhaps that something was labeled differently or I was using the wrong tool to import to TVH. I know it shouldn't be like that but it is.

Eric S Your screenshots clearly show the data being present in TVH but absent in Kodi. On the other hand, my screenshots show the data being present in both TVH and Kodi.

Kodi 'should' be displaying those fields. I'm not sure what else to say. Perhaps you could post on the Kodi or LibreELEC forums to see if anyone else has encountered this issue.

If there's an issue it's unlikely to be specific to LE so posts should be directed to the Kodi forum.

But isn't what is displayed determined by the TVH Client, Kodi should display what ever it is given. I think I can change it manually so there should be a way of customizing it.

This software is controlled by Kodi, not TVH.

When you post to the Kodi forum, please include the changes that you apply to make this work for you. Knowing the changes could be useful to them.
