The video doesn’t play on iOS or Safari but works fine on Chrome, Firefox, Edge.

The video (satellite channels) does not play on iOS or Safari. It works perfectly on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. For example, on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, I use the transmission profile: webtv-vp8-vorbis-webm, and it works without any issues, but on iOS or Safari, it doesn’t work. Can you please indicate which profile I should use to make it work on iOS? I am attaching the errors I get on Safari or from my iPhone, which show the same issue.

This is the request that Safari makes from the Mac. The strange thing is that it responds with 200 OK, but it still doesn’t play.

Maybe the problem is not on your side?
We discussed the play-ability elsewhere, without clear results.
Since I noticed that some (not reproducible) .ts downloaded directly from the Tvheadend interface don't play correctly with VLC; and, worse, crash kdenlive, I think that tvheadend doesn't always produce properly formatted downloads; and maybe neither streams(?).
I have by now taken to trim the first minute of those downloads that crash kdenlive, and then the files work. With some players, there is no problem at all.
I guess that tvheadend doesn't always produce the correct keyframe sequence at the beginning of some files.
And then it is very much up to the reproducing software to handle such situations properly.

Sorry for not being able to help directly. According to my experiments, it doesn't actually always depend on the profile selected.

Not all browsers support all Codecs and containers. Check a compatibility matrix and choose whatever format is most widely supported.

Well, it’s important to mention that the way I have it set up is like this:

1) I have my Tvheadend running on a Linux PC.
2) I’m using a proxy in Nginx to make my Tvheadend accessible over the internet.
3) When accessing it from Safari on iOS, I encounter the problem I initially mentioned.
4) It’s worth noting that it works perfectly in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Android. The only issue is with iOS & Safari.

So, based on this setup, the problem would be my proxy (since it’s acting as the bridge)?

I have a question: Does Tvheadend normally work fine on iOS and Safari (if no proxy is involved)? I haven’t tested it.

If anyone has any idea what my proxy might be missing or what it should include, please let me know. Thanks.

Could you share a screenshot of how the codec profile configuration should look and how it should be set in the URL for it to work on iOS?

Honestly, I’ve tried several configurations but still haven’t had a successful result.

for iOS I use an app named: TvhClient ... works very well but I think it needs both ports 9981,9982 in order to work.
