I'm running Tvheadend on a Synology NAS (SynoCommunity package), with a Kathrein EXIP414/E SAT>IP server feeding it from a dish with four LNBs. Two networks are configured: Astra 19.2E and Astra 28.2E. Live viewing works perfectly on both satellites via Kodi and a SAT>IP app.
EIT grabbing works well on Astra 19.2 — around 79,000 events across 263 channels, full multi-day schedules. Astra 28.2 has exactly zero events. The OTA grabber never subscribes to a single mux on that network, in any run.
What I've verified:
- UK: Freesat and UK: Freesat (EIT) modules are both enabled in EPG Grabber Modules, at their shipped priorities (5 and 6); eit is at 1.
- Mux 11425H on Astra 28.2 is Enabled, EPG scan = Manual selection, EPG module id = UK: Freesat.
- That mux reports ONID 59 and TSID 2315, matching the uk_freesat definition in data/conf/epggrab/eit/config exactly.
- Tuning parameters are correct: 11425000 kHz, 27500 Sym/s, H, QPSK, 2/3.
- The mux scanned successfully: 13 services, 4 mapped channels, scan_result: 1.
- It tunes fine on demand — an HTTP subscription from the web UI locks it without trouble.
- All other Astra 28.2 muxes have EPG scan = Disable.
- Restarted Tvheadend after each configuration change.
What the log shows. With epggrab,mpegts,subscription tracing enabled, grep 11425 across the whole log returns no epggrab subscription at all — only a manual HTTP one from my browser. The only relevant lines are:
epggrab: no OTA modules active for 11425H in Astra 28.2, check again next time
epggrab: uk_freesat complete 1 first 1
One thing that may be significant. Inspecting epggrab/otamux/, there is no record for 11425H (UUID 60c0c3e6…). The uk_freesat and uk_freesat_eit modules are instead registered against 11685.5V on Astra 28.2, whose file shows:
json
{"complete": 1,
"modules": [{"id": "uk_freesat_eit"}, {"id": "psip"},
{"id": "eit", "services": [...23 UUIDs...]},
{"id": "uk_freesat"}]}
Both Freesat modules are listed with no services array, and the mux is flagged complete. I enabled EPG scan on 11685.5V as well (Manual selection / UK: Freesat) and re-triggered — still no subscription to it either.
Questions:
- Why would Tvheadend associate the Freesat modules with 11685.5V rather than 11425H, given the ONID/TSID match on the latter?
- Does "complete": 1 on that otamux record prevent the mux from ever being re-queued, and if so, is deleting the file the right way to reset it?
- Is there something above the mux level that can exclude an entire network from OTA grabbing? Both networks show satip_source: 0, which I wondered about, though live viewing works on both.
EPG Grabber Channels is empty, which I take to be consistent with the module never having received any carousel data.
Happy to provide fuller trace output, the full mux grid, or anything else useful.
PS: This was written by Claude - it has tried to help me set things up but has failed so far. I know far too little about the topic to be able to write something like that. ;-)
