Updates to dvt-scan-tables

Having tweaked a few changes to local broadcast frequencies and transmission standards, I'd like to contribute the changes also to TVHeadend. After browsing the repository a bit, I understand that it is a fork from the upstream linux-media's repository of the scan tables. However, the fork seems to be behind the upstream. Some have also cloned the upstream repository and configured that as the scan source in TVHeadend.

Which path is preferred for submitting updates to the scan tables? Should I send my changes upstream and let them flow into TVHeadend, or would it be better to open a pull request directly against the TVHeadend‑maintained repository as the repo description instructs?

I'd suggest doing both. Submit your proposed changes upstream to be useful to as many as possible, and also submit them to the TVH repository with a note that it seems to be out of date. Unless you fancy bringing it up to date, of course. 🙂
