How do I fix one tuner if I have multiple tuners?

Hello. I want TVHeadend to stay on one tuner (Tuner A) when only one client is watching TV and not jump from tuner to tuner when switching. What settings can I change to achieve this?

I often have the problem that the other tuner doesn't provide any stream/channel. The only thing that helps is stopping the stream/channel and then switching to the desired channel. It's annoying. If I deactivate all other tuners, I don't have this problem, but that can't be a solution.

Jimbo Go to Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> TV Adaptors, and select your 'good' tuner. Set the Priority and Streaming Priority figures to 1. Go to the other tuner and set the figures to 0 (the default).

Of course if you want to watch TV when there is a recording active that won't work, as the good tuner will be in use for the recording. Equally if you are watching live TV when a recording is due to start that won't work either.

Thanks for your answer, but I've already tried that with 10 for tuner B and 100 for tuner A. It didn't work. I've now tried 0 and 1. Sometimes TVHeadend stays on tuner A when switching, but most of the time it still randomly jumps from tuner to tuner. I've attached a screenshot of my settings here. Is there anything else I could try?

Jimbo OK I think I see what might be happening. Suppose you are watching channel 1 from SAT>IP tuner A, and you "switch" your client to channel 2 which is on a different mux. Maybe tuner A takes a finite time to stop streaming channel 1 so when TVH looks for a source of channel 2 it sees tuner A as busy and chooses tuner 2 instead.

The only way to avoid this issue I can think of is to set up two networks and allocate one tuner to each. You then watch only channels from the network supplied from tuner A.

Or find out what's wrong with tuner B.

It's an FBC tuner. Only tuner A is real, tuner B is virtual. Both work perfectly individually and still offer advantages for me (who doesn't have a Unicable cable). Watching two different channels simultaneously from one of the four levels (HH, HL, VH, VL).

Unfortunately, TVHeadend almost always switches to the other tuner when switching, while the tuner that previously provided the picture is probably not "free" yet. I've tried many things in the tuner settings to force TVHeadend to stay on the active tune (as if only one tuner were available). No luck. Then I tried changing the tuning delay time to give the active tuner more time. It simply doesn't change its behavior.

Just a thought, but what client are you using to watch the TV Headend services? If you're using Kodi and the TVHeadend PVR client, do you have multiple tuners enabled for predictive tuning in the settings?

I'm currently using two apps, Dreamplayer for TVHeadend and the Kodi PVR TVHeadend add-on. I didn't see any tuner settings in the Kodi add-on. Or do you mean "Predictive Tuning"? That's disabled.

Yes. I meant the predictive tuning settings in the kodi pvr addon. If that's disabled then obviously not the issue. It was just a thought.

If you're dealing with multiple TVHeadend tuners, start by checking the DVB inputs in your system. Verify each tuner is correctly connected to the TV adapters and recognized in TVHeadend’s configuration.
In the TVHeadend web interface, go to Configuration > DVB Inputs. Check each tuner’s status under the "Adapters" tab. Ensure no conflicts exist, like duplicate inputs or overlapping frequencies. If a tuner isn’t working, restart it or reseat the hardware connection.
