davep Thanks, that definitely seems to be the issue. I just installed Vivaldi and tested in that, and the "Add" and "Edit" buttons work there as well. So, currently it is only Firefox and Safari that seem to have the problem. Really hope that fix gets applied soon.

Well it seems that now using Vivaldi or any other Chromium based browser doesn't work. See https://tvheadend.org/d/9119-i-cant-create-or-modify-timers for possible fixes.

This issue was resolved 3 weeks ago. Have you tried with a version released after that date?

I updated through "git pull origin master" this morning and am now at 4.3-2423~gea3d32791. Firefox/Safari/Brave on OSX still not resolved.
The bug is closed, but no patch has been applied.

When you built TVH, did you just run make or did you also run sudo make install?

Just make, and I have a symlink in /usr/bin to the binary in build.linux. Sudo make install is not required according to the instructions.

The fix for the FireFox bug was not in the TVH binary, it was in the JS code.
Have a look in /usr/local/share/tvheadend/src/webui/static.

I have /usr/share/tvheadend/src/webui/static. Those are all old files!
The downloaded repository contains the new files, but they are not copied over. As make never does.

So a sudo make install is required, wonder why README.md does not include that instruction. Surely I have done is at least once before I started following the README instructions.

A sudo systemctl restart tvheadend is needed so the new webui is picked up.
The binary is now copied to /usr/local/bin so I have to take care of that. Change my startup script that is.

All works now.

The word required is very strong, you could do it all manually, sudo make install just does it for you in a neat, standardised way.

You could look in /{Your Development Path}/src/webui/static and then make symbolic links for all of the various subcomponents if you really wanted to. make make_webui will also just build the WebUI too.

Not recommended, but possible.

Indeed, there are other ways. But much more complicated. So perhaps I should have stated that there is at least some additional configuration required beyond what is mentioned in the readme to make tvheadend work.
But i'm happy this is resolved now. Thanks!
