If you are on the page at https://tvheadend.org/p/downloads it says "The latest 'stable' release (v4.2.8) was released in January 2019 and is now showing its age. As there are no plans for another v4.2 maintenance release and there is no direct upgrade path from v4.2 to v4.3/v4.4 we recommend all new installs use the current v4.3 'development' releases. These have been in a reliable state for several years and will soon become the new v4.4 stable release (eta in Q1/2024)."
But 4.2 always worked great and the two times I have had encounters with 4.3 it has given me nothing but trouble, primarily because it no longer uses the /home/hts directory (instead it uses /var/lib which makes certain things far more difficult due to permissions issues) but also I think there have been breaking changes in 4.3. Since my existing systems use 4.2 and since at some point the OS will need to be upgraded, I'd like to know where I can get a .deb file of the 4.2 stable release.
If there is absolutely no place to get that online now, can you tell me how to move my existing Tvheadend install from one system to another (in other words what files or directories would need to be copied)? Doing it that way would definitely not be my first choice, but I have searched in vain for the 4.2 .deb file and can't seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks in advance.
