Different profiles for different users

I run TVH on a RPI3 with a DVB tuner, HTS Tvheadend 4.2.8-dirty, very happy with it.
Now, I am trying to find a way to select on the client side how I want to receive the stream - transcoded or not.
I managed to "assign" a profile to an IP using a "*" user with a list of networks.
But this uses the same profile for the network and I need two.
I added a "trans" user in the list of users, now trying to use that in a player (mpv in my test)..
Adding "?profile=...." to URL does not change anything. Adding "user" in http://user@tvh:9981/.... does do anything either - Status->subscriptions shows nothing in "user".

What do I miss here?

Why: I want to listen to some DVB radio from the garage outside and watch some TV. For a TV channel (with fullhd-video) I would not bother transcoding (too tough for RPI3 anyway) but for the radio I'd save trafic by mpeg2->aac.

I can tell you, that it works on the latest, unmodified version. You're running some old, modified version, so either whoever modified it broke it, or it never worked on those old versions in the first place.

Flole what exactly works? user or profile= or both? Time to update I guess.... this came from "snap install tvheadend" from https://snapcraft.io/install/tvheadend/raspbian , I was kinda hoping it is something decent 🙂

You can use the cloudsmith repo if you are on raspbian.

I just did. 4.3.2347. Still, neither user nor profile is recognized by this new tvheadend..

It is actually worse now - no transcoding available at all, the old transcoding profile is not picked up and not visible in the webui. It worked perfectly from the snap version :-/

Just built myself a version, oh gosh... transcoding is back but htsp is broken - now it requires every client to use some username. Uff.
With this version, at least, ?profile= seems having effect. The username is still ignored, is there a way to fix that?

I got it wrong, profile= does not work either. So the tvh version does not matter, I am just not doing it right but what...

In the example above you are not using the correct delimiter (; vs. the required &).

yeah, figured this out about my profile= problem. The username business is still a mistery, when I am bored - I'll just read the source code 🙂
