EPG not populating until I surf to the channel itself

I am running the latest tvheadend and using the EPG modules EIT: EPG Grabber and PSIP: ATSC Grabber. I can get my EPG fine, but I have to surf through all the channels first. Is there a way I can get this to grab my guides automatically?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Years ago I used to mess with zap2xml, and have a cron job running and all this, and I found the OTA EPG worked fine. I can't find anything in the web UI that triggers the EPG and I wouldn't know how to do it in crontab using these modules. Thanks for your help.

As soon as I posted this, I found the button: "Re-run Internal EPG Grabbers". It's under Configuration > Channel/EPG > EPG Grabber Modules.

I also found this, but I'm not sure how to use it in a CLI command I can put in crontab.

EDIT// running the internal grabber from the button did nothing. I still need to surf to each channel to get the guide.

I found another button, 'Trigger OTA EPG Grabber", under Configuration > Channel/EPG > EPG Grabber. It also did nothing.

It seems like this is by service. So if the service is WTTW, and it has PBS Kids, WTTW World, WTTW Prime et cetera, Then going to any one of these channels will immediately make the other channels for this service available.

EDIT// And OTA cron is set in the Web UI to run twice a day (but it isn't).

Can you please provide some more information?
Are you using DVB or ATSC?

If you go into Configuration|Channel/EPG/EPG Grabber you can force and EPG grab at startup and you can also schedule regular EPG scans. If you press the Help button on the WebUI, it will provide examples of the scheduling syntax.

I do have that checked to force at startup. I also have this in the cron field:

# Default config (02:04 and 14:04 everyday)
4 2 * * *
4 14 * * *

This is for OTA. It was already in place but wasn't working. I found another forum that recommended I create a Mux Schedule. So I looked at all my muxes, and all of them said 'FAIL' except one, which said 'OK'. I created it like so:

Today, I still have fewer EPG results than yesterday, but I only just set my timeout to 540 (before it was 0). We'll see if this fixes the problem. Still not sure why the official method isn't working, and why I have to surf to the channels to get results!

I just want to update you all on my issue. This Mux scheduler seems to have fixed my problem, as it has been 5 days now and my EPG keeps repopulating.
