What's the current best practice for auto shutdown and wake for recordings?

I've just nuked my out of date Ubuntu server, and I'm part way through setting up a new Debian install.

My old server was set up so long ago, I can barely remember how I did it, but I managed to successfully set up a script to shut down the system when idle, and wake up for recording. I'm sure it was from the following page:

Which seems no longer to exist.

Is there an up to date version? Or is this something which might be incorporated into future versions?

Thank you for that. That doesn't actually seem to be the script I was using... Maybe I should have had it backed up. I'll keep looking.

Thanks. That looks a bit closer to the script I was using, but still not the same one. I remember distinctly the was a line near the beginning that contained a list of port numbers for checking activity on, which made it really easy to modify for checking Samba and Emby connections.

I've even found an old thread from this forum, where I link to the script I used, but that page is now pointing to the following address:

My understanding is that link should still work if you put an "old." at the start of the URL:
https://old.tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/15826

However, it doesn't and simply comes up with a 404 error on the old forum. So it looks like the post you linked to had already been removed from the old forum before the migration to the new one. Unless my understanding is incorrect re. the old forum links, I think it's gone for good.
