Remove "New" from title and gaps when recording movies

Hi there.

My TVH set up is working wonderfully at the moment but I have a few issues that are causing a few issues:

I have Jellyfin automatically scrape my recordings, so that they show up in my Kodi library.

I use OTA data, which includes "New: ..." at the beginning of the title, when it is a brand new program. The problem with this is that it confuses the scraper. Is there an yway to remove this with TVHeadend itself?

My only other option might be to do something with Jellyfin itself (i.e. can it automatically ignore "New" when scanning folders, perhaps?

Certain channels always have a news gap in the middle of movies. What is the best way to deal with this? Is my only option to put a record on for both parts of the movie?

Re question 2, see https://tvheadend.org/d/7508-resuming-recording-after-news-break. Basically it is supposed to work and was tested then, but using the Freeview and Freesat EPGs. Have you tried it with OpenTV EPG? Note that the reported stop time and programme length in the GUI only cover the first segment but the full programme is recorded anyway.

Thanks Dave. I hadn't realised that recordings might automatically pick up the second half automatically - I have always manually put a record on for the second half of any film.

I shall do some more testing and shall report back.

I tried a few recordings.

Unfortunately, if I record only the first half of a film, the second half was not automatically recorded.

I wonder what happens with people that have Sky - do they have the same issue?

Are you using the "OpenTV: Sky UK" EPG grabber?
I ran a quick check using channel "5ACTION" which often runs films with a news break. Unfortunately it seems that the OpenTV EPG doesn't include the "segmented event" links, so the automatic recording of split programmes won't work. There are two possible fixes:

If the channels are on the FreeSat EPG you could use the FreeSat grabber for the channels which carry split programmes
The OpenTV EPG does link the two halves of the programme into a series, so you could use the "record series" function on your client for these programmes.
