I have checked the status for each of the 7 muxes showing. All 7 are showing under Name a value between 554MHz and 778MHz but all show a Scan Result of FAIL. No services are shown either.

I am thinking that maybe the problem lies with either the PCIe card I am using, or a problem with the aerial connection.

How many tuners is TVH reporting. Are you using DVBT or DVBC.

I am using DVBT and TVH is showing 7 muxes. The TV Adaptor shows 2 adaptors, each with 3 sub-adaptors (ATSC-C, DVB-T, and DVB-C).

I suggest you disable the tuners that you are not using in TVH so all you have is an active DVBT tuner and try scanning again.

I don’t use either Fedora or TBS PCI cards. Your problem could relate to the correct firmware/drivers not being loaded for your TBS DVB card under your current Linux kernel.

I suggest you reach out to the TBS and Fedora community to see if they can point you in the right direction.

I definitely find it easier installing and configuring TVH in a Debian based distro but again that’s just my personal view.

At this stage you need to ensure that your TBS card is functioning correctly and the correct firmware is being loaded. You can check that by executing the dmesg command and examining the section relating to your DVB card.

I have already messaged TBS - they will, I hope, get back to me tomorrow. I have reinstalled their drivers successfully yesterday. I think that what I need to do also is to find some way of testing whether the card is actually receiving a signal through the aerial connection.

You can tell if you have a good signal with you aerial if you press the Status tab on the TVH web browser. That will display signal strength and signal quality. What is that reading.

Signal strength is shown as Unknown for all streams.

Clearly your tuner is picking up nothing so. Is the firmware showing as loading correctly when you execute dmesg.

I assume the card was working correctly at some stage. Was the Linux kernel upgraded recently. Before you proceed any further with TVH you’ll need to ensure your DVB card is registered correctly in Fedora.

As I don’t have either Fedora installed or a TBS card there’s very little else I can help you with. Get the TBS DVB card working correctly in Fedora and I reckon that should resolve your issue.

Do bear in mind every time there’s a kernel upgrade you’ll probably face a similar issue as outlined in that link.

I am using kernel 6.5.8 which was updated on 27th October 2023. If I reboot, I can only go back to 6.5.6 which came on 11th October 2023. The last time the card worked to record was the end of September 2023.

I have been using the scripts shown there for some time now. As said earlier, I am awaiting a response to a question sent to TBS yesterday which may come overnight tonight. I suspect that I may need to purchase a new card if that is where the problem is.

If you are replacing your card choose wisely. Do a bit of research first before deciding on a replacement. While Fedora is a fine distro there’s very little support I could find on the subject of DVB. Unless you are committed to Fedora I’d look at one of the Debian based distros. I’d even look at a Raspberry Pi and a Pi DVB T HAT as it works straight out of the box and is a lot more power efficient than a Core 2 PC.

Yes that’s the nightmare involved with using TBS cards. You really are at the mercy of TBS and Linux kernel updates.

Also bear in mind that you now have TVH installed via Snap which is clunky and definitely slower than TVH installed from dnf your installer.

Rather, when you do have a working setup you note down the likes of kernel version number, any particulars like firmware versions and instructions for building drivers etc if it’s applicable.

Of course supplying all relevant information on hardware and software setup from the get go helps greatly too.

I highly recommend that new users to TVH select a flavour of Linux that is well documented to work with TVH with the minimum of fuss. Plenty of examples of that here on the forum.

Ideally building and compiling your own TVH would be the way to go but not everyone is comfortable doing that and I don’t see too many discussions on TVH running on Fedora. I did ask here why Fedora on a couple of occasions but didn’t get an answer.

It's also a good idea to record all the system details as Jonas says, but it's not either/or! As I said, I believe that you should never discard a working configuration before you have a working replacement. Notes can be wrong or be incomplete etc.
