That's done it!! Honestly thank you soo soo much! This information is documented anywhere for new users to TVH

I've followed this to the letter, but I did a random external port for the web interface and the front end.

Work perfectly when on the local network and on 4g or external networks!

Many Thanks again for going into so much detail, but detail that is easy to follow for new members!

Last question I would like to ask here, if possible is when I record any problem HD or SD the recordings are at 664x668.

I can't find anywhere to set it as 1920x1080 for all recordings.

Could you help with this?

Thank you for supporting me on this, my ISP no longer support purchasing your external IP, I recall you mentioning using a dynamic DNS would be better. What is involved here and what do i have to do to set it up? Thanks

There's plenty of information available as to how to get this up and running if you Google it (other search engines are available!).

Briefly though:

Most ISP routers support DDNS
Log into your router and find the Dynamic DNS settings (usually under advanced or expert settings)
Make a note of the service providers supported by your router (probably in a drop down list somewhere). No-IP is a popular one and supported by a lot of routers
Research the various providers supported by your router and sign up to an account for a paid or free service with your chosen provider (in the process you will register a host name)
Go back to your router and enter the relevant details for the DDNS service you have signed up to
Your router will keep the DDNS provider's records updated if your external IP address changes
You will use http://<your chosen host name>:9981 to access the web interface externally.

That worked perfectly thank you! I used the free no-ip option. So I tested logging into the web portal via the example you provided above just changing the chosen hostname to the one created by no-ip and it loaded the TVH web interface perfectly!

Last question then. So currently in Kodi on my mobile. When I'm on my 5g to simulate it's external. the TVH client still allows me to view my live channels and recordings. In the config settings, the specified IP address is still set to the external IP. So should I leave it as it is or should I now replace the IP address with the DNS hostname instead or will it not matter? Just thinking when the time comes that the external IP changes by the ISP, Kodi won't connect to the server anymore. If I change it with the newly created dynamic DNS it should still access the server? if that makes any sense to you sorry ha.

I think you've answered your own question there! Yes, you should use the DNS host name. That's the point of DDNS, the host name remains constant but the IP address may change.

I have done this . Initially it has been worked. But when i changed my public ip it stopped working.

mohsinffaiz What is the "this" that you have done - this thread talks about a whole bunch of things? You need to be more specific if you want some help.

What port forwarding rules do you have in place? Are you using Dynamic DNS? What exactly changed between when it was working and when it wasn't? How are you trying to access TVHeadend remotely? e.g. the web interface, playing channels via some sort of client - if so what client? Have you reconfigured your client(s) since the external address change?

Without more information there's simply no way to help you I'm afraid.
