Is there a way to prevent TVH from reading the # symbol in a m3u8 as a comment line?

I want to import a m3u8 playlist into tvheadend, but issue I have is the password in the url e.g.(username:password@) contains a # symbol.

I cannot change it any time soon, so I am looking for a way if there is a way around it?

You could try using url encoding to replace the special characters. Replace the # with %23
