I am setting out below what instructions I used to build TVHeadend from source on Ubuntu 22.04 64 bit based on the x86_64 architecture in a simple copy/paste...

Are you trying all this in root.

That’s not how I set out my list of instructions. You can’t just jump from root to user and back again. You’ll have a load of issues with file permissions and file ownership when you eventually get TVH built and installed.

I strongly suggest that you start again with a fresh install of Ubuntu 22.04 and use these posts as a guide to what you need to install to finally get TVH built/compiled as a package ready for installation.

If you already have TVH installed and configured from precompiled packages and are happy enough with that fine, but as it stands the build/compilation process for you has gone off script and will probably need some work and a good knowledge of Linux to put right. The decision is entirely up to you.

AliSLR of course but a Linux primer wasn’t the purpose of this exercise. Following my instructions exactly as they were laid out in this post and the output from the build process was supposed to have you up and running by now.

You need to be mindful of the difference between root and user. Read up on it and you’ll understand that you can’t throw the kitchen sink at this process until it just works. You’re just storing up problems for later.

I have confirmed once again that my build/compile instructions do work and there’s no reason why they won’t work for others as long as they are followed exactly as they are laid out.

Hi Jonas. Thanks for the HowTo. I would like to build the version that corresponds to the latest images in Cloudsmith. These have a hash of gadef81b8d which doesn't seem to match any commit hash in github. How can I get the source that corresponds to these 'releases'?

Graham H no the thread title is very explicit and now you see why I needed that information. Time consuming otherwise.

Start a fresh thread with all that information and possibly someone who has similar will come along to help. Alternatively try the TVH advised way of building TVH.
