Any better video protocol options than HTTP? Best for VLC?

I have TVH installed, and it seems to be working quite well for streaming HD video from ATSC-T to my home LAN.

Are there any video protocol options other than the default HTTP that I should be considering? I.E., wouldn't this be a good use case for a UDP-based protocol such as RTSP? Or I'm curious about the SAT>IP Server capability built-in to TVH (which uses RTSP?) - and may already have built-in support to VLC?

I'm seeing a lot of information for bringing RTSP or SAT>IP streamsin to TVH, but am not finding any examples for URL formats or how to configure VLC to read theseout of TVH. Can anyone provide any guidance here? Or why I'm wasting time even looking into this?

Looks like I also have SAT>IP working (shows under UPnP in VLC) - but the URL for each channel is still "http://" ?

Use HTSP plugin in VLC.
But KODI is better experience.

Yes, I'll look to KODI for anything dedicated. Just thinking ad-hoc usage on all the places where VLC is already readily available.

Are there any options or documentation for generating RTSP URLs out of TVH?
