Lots of activity on my card

When I watch an encrypted channel I can see that NewCS is being checked every 20 seconds or so. Also when I stop watching and close the app, activity continues. I can see one of the tuners being in use then. Is this normal behaviour for TVHeadend? I never had this with TV Mosaic. One check at the start was all that happened.

I use:
Synology DS918+ with TV Headend

Windows 10 server with NewCS

They are set at 60 seconds and with 4 users that would explain why they are so busy. Is there a setting to do that just one time?

It is getting worse. I see 5 or 6 times per SECOND a check on the card. Way too much activity. Setting the keepalive settings from 30 to 3000 does not change the behaviour. Very strange. NEWCS does not do this when connected by TV Mosaic, but since that software is end of life I need an alternative. Was hoping that TVheadend could be it, and it runs great, except for this. I am afraid my TV provider will notice this over activity on the card and cuts me off. Please help.

You might want to clarify what Tvheadend version you are running, if it's not the latest you should update.

No EPG scanning. But lots of errors like these. Strange thing is that the channel is working perfectly.

Version is HTS Tvheadend 4.4.20181215 There is no newer version of the app in the Synology store, I am using the repo of Dierkse due to using HDHomerun tuners.

The version of SynoCommunity in the repo is 4.3.20191128, but as said, I believe I need the Dierkse version for the HDHomerun

4.4 doesn't exist yet, and based on the date it's some super old version. Update to latest master, otherwise nobody can help you. Even if an issue is identified and fixed you won't get the fix, so this won't help you at all unless you update.

If there is no source for a ready-to-use package the only option you have is to self-compile.

I'm not sure I am ready for that. Never done it and had a lot of work getting the combination of tvheadend and newcs working. I believe I have to do magic things to include the HDHomerun tuners?

And will my current setup keep on working?

HDHomeRun is included in the master since quite some while, so enabling it is sufficient.

If you do everything correctly it will keep working.

Usually that shouldn't be a problem unless whoever compiled those packages made changes.

There is no safe config option inside TVHeadend? Can't seem to find it. I can make a backup from the /var directory of my tvheadend install, but can I just copy-paste all files in it?

No there is no such option.

I don't know where your config files are saved, but those can of course be backed up and restored later on in case it's necessary.

Ok, now I changed my complete configuration into version 4.3.20191128, the latest version available at SynoCommunity. I have set the keepalive at 6000 in the Cas settings. I can open every channel, including scrambled channels. But the problem remains..... It keeps checking every 20 seconds.

Be more corect and say that you use some NAS device.
version is on web interface of tvh not on nas apps
repo of Synology is year back then current last.

? My opening post says that I use a Synology 918+. How more correct do you want me to be?

The version on the webinterface is 4.3~221c29b (2020-04-17T11:26:32+0000)

Does this change anything?
