Service Mapper - services ignored

After using MythTV as a backend for many years I made the switch. Trying to wrap my head around Tvheadend. And there is something I don't understand. Some channels do not show up although they are enabled in Configuration > Channel/EPG > Channels. 36 channels are enabled there and only 28 show up in Kodi frontend. Also, only 28 are in bold in the web interface Electronic Program Guide.
What is wrong. How can I make them show up?

- Channels must have associated services, channels with empty services will not show up in Kodi.

Services can be skipped if unavailable at the time of a network scan, certain options when mapping can cause these services to be ignored too.

Thanks for reply. Services exist, they were chosen using drop-down menu, when I go to Configuration > Channel/EPG > Channels and enable Expert level there is no difference whatsoever between channels that show up and do not. I'm using HTS Tvheadend 4.3-1133~ge339005ab-dirty. Shall I file a bug?

If the services show up in the Services tab & can be played from that tab then they should appear. You could try editing the service & skipping the TSID check.

Another thought: do those channels have EPG data? By default Kodi will not load channels with no EPG data.

First I have to say they worked with MythTV as backend. Having a closer look at Muxes page the channels in question have Scan Result Fail. I wonder what that means. Did they fail during the initial scan? Do I need to force another scan to activate them? I have to say New Orleans is about 53 miles from here, I have a good antenna and all these channels do work in nighttime, but some get too weak during daylight. Is Tvheadend disabling channels at its will? If true, then it is real bad news for me.

No, try playing the service from the muxes tab, if it plays then it may have just been weak at the time of the scan. If it fails to play with "no input" then your signal is weak.

It plays alright. Yet it does not show up in Kodi. I can also use dvbv5-zap to record this channel.

By default, under

Settings > PVR & Live TV > Guide@, the @Hide "No informational available" channels

option is enabled. This means that channels without EPG data will not appear in Kodi.

However, since the OP wrote that all of the channels' services' parent muxes have "Scan Result Fail", it seems to imply a different problem.

Are you using Tvheadend as the source for recording with @dvbv5-zap@, or are you accessing the tuners directly. If the former (via Sat>IP or similar) then this is some weird problem. However, if the latter, it seems to indicate a problem with the Tvheadend configuration rather than an issue with the tuner or signal.

Also, your version string includes "dirty", meaning that changes were made to the source tree before compilation. Perhaps one of these modifications might be having an effect as well ...

Previously I used MythTV. This is my first serious attempt to use Tvheadend. I'm using Gentoo ebuild which uses git repo.

And no, I'm using Tvheadend directly. I tried zap just to make sure I can receive the channel.

Another thing. I have two DVB cards, one dual and one quadro, each has an antenna connected. Dual is receiving from baton Rouge and quadro is aimed at New Orleans. It makes 6 devices total. Can Tvheadend handle 6 devices?

Yes, I use 9 tuners without problem. However, it sounds like your problem is related to DVB vs. ATSC.

If you're receiving US OTA broadcasts, you need an ATSC-T tuner, not a DVB tuner. Different standards and technologies ...

Sorry for confusion. For me ATSC is DVB - digital video broadcast, also the device nodes appear in /dev/dvb/, there is no /dev/atsc/ ;) . Anyhow, all the tuners are ATSC-T capable.

If your have your hardware and networks properly set up, then your first obstacle is to ensure that your scanning for services succeeds. If you have a failed scan, it might indicate a problem trying to tune the frequency or discover services on the mux.

If you play the full mux from the Muxes tab, does it succeed? If not, what does the log say. Same thing for the Services tab: if you have a found service, play it from the WebUI; if it does not work there, what does the log say. And once again, do the same for the Channel that is mapped to the service ...

Without any details, specifics or logs, any help we might offer is simply guesswork ...

OK, I'm trying one more time to figure out what's wrong. First, I have to say I tried to downgrade to 4.2.4. And discovered my existing configuration was ignored. Back to git. Built fresh as git is today.

1. The hardware is good, proven working.
2. I have two networks set up, both have some muxes.
3. One of my networks has 44 services. It also has 29 mapped channels. My second network has 11 services, 9 mapped channels. All this is from web interface Networks tab. Total 38 mapped channels.
4. When I go to Services tab I can see 46 enabled channels.
5. In Channels tab I can see 38 channels. Two disabled by me, so it leaves me with 36 channels.

6. In Kodi there is 28 channels.

Can anyone make heads or tails of this?

What log is needed to investigate this? How to get this log?
