Firstly, hello fellow midlander!
If you can receive DVB-T it should receive T2 no problem. Make sure you're selecting "DVB-T2" as the delivery system.
As for blurry picture this is unfortunately due to how little bandwidth channels get on Freeview. Your other box may be doing some clever trickery to hide the blur, sharpening/upscaling etc. Software decoding tends to be a little worse compared to hardware decoding as well.
