Hi Julian
Yes, I'm still getting replies.
Still running "One User per RF".. The QUAD LNB setting does not work for me and the SKY LNB.. This may be a limitation of the Sky LNB I have or just my knowledge of what to do.. So I went back to the quad setup as it worked.
Iv included screenshots for my setup and how it's working.. this is for the tuner section.
I have 1 Network (FREESAT) that all the positions (There is only 1 position) on all 4 tuners point to.
I'm not sure if there is some kind of splitter that would allow you to use the 4 tuners on your dual cable setup.
you need all four plugged in for it to work from my understanding.
"I'm wondering whether I might be able to get a bit more multi-tuner action by using the Master-tuner setting in TVHeadend. As I understand it my 2 incoming feeds from the distribution system can each independently be switched into Low-H, Low-V, High-H or High-V. Perhaps if I only let tuners #1 and 2# switch LNB band and/or polarisation (i.e. be the master tuners) but activate all 6 other tuners as slaves then if I need a 3rd simultaneous satellite channel (or 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th) then any or even all of the slave tuners could be active and tune into other channels provided that those other channels where on the same frequency band and polarisation as one of the master tuners was already tuned into. (Actually, given you have to nominate a specific master tuner for each slave it would be a bit less flexible, tuners #3, #4 and #5 would need to want something on the same band/polarisation setting as tuner #1 was on and #6, #7 and #8 would be restricted to tuner #2's current frequency band and polarisation but in quite a few cases it would probably give extra usable tuners, if I've understood it properly.)"
Your guess is better than mine.. I just tried a few different things in order changing 1 thing at once and then testing.. to see what worked for me or not..
I would like to be able to do 8 tuners but I don't think you can with the default LNB.
I'm running this on the SAT IP Server
H/W Version: 1.0
S/W Version: 3.1.15
MEG-8000
SAT>IP_Server_3
So same as yours..
Sorry, not much help.
How you getting on with the HDHomerun as I'm tempted to try as well.. Just to make get the few extra channels that are on Freeview. But not sure how it would work with the channel numbers/names.. Eg BBC 1 HD How do you get Freesat and Freeview BBC 1 HD to the same channel..
Iv tried with a cheap tuner and It found the muxes but seemed to want to create dup channels that were the same but on different networks.
Sorry, this is a big side tract.
Rob
