Hi all, well I must say I am interested in trying this. I have it (TVheadend) successfully installed on FreeBSD OS (an amazing UNIX based OS by the way, love it). I can access it from the web browser and while my 1st attempts at building some 'channels' failed, it sure does look like it is ready to serve. BTW when I say channel I really mean a single instance of the back-end of TVheadend RXing from an IPTV TXer. I don't mean the front-end where channel 555 is coming from TVhead. Feel free to correctly my use of terminology for use here in this forum. :P
I looked through the Wiki pages, but it feels like I am missing that good "ah ha" document. That just said, to help focus the discussion I do not have any tuner devices at the moment. Not sure if I will get any either, since where I live there are only 2 HD OTA 'clear' channels. What I am really interested in is getting some IPTV channels up and running. I found some "free IPTV" references on the Internet, and I tried using the listed http://ip.address:xxxx stream links, but ultimately the mux 'channel' would show "fail" after it scanned.
I tried by creating a network in DVB inputs. Then I created a mux and added that network, along with the IPTV stream URL. When I ran scan the log showed a bunch of stuff like it was trying, but as mentioned earlier it would fail.
So I guess my questions are:
* Are there IPTV channels freely and clearly available (via the Internet) in Canada? If yes can anyone provide URLs for 'directories' of these IPTV streams?
* Are there IPTV channels fee-for-service available (via the Internet) in Canada? If yes can anyone provide URLs for 'directories' of these IPTV streams?
* Assuming there is, what steps do I need to do to get IPTV streams/channels up and running?
Sorry for what I'm sure is a lame newbie 1st post, but thought I ask the pros who can boil it down. In the meantime I'll try to find some good discussion posts on the forum.
Thanks a bunch everyone. :)
