Possible to create custom channel from files in a folder?

Just wondering did anyone manage to create custom channel from files in a folder? As in say you had a folder with your favourite tv show and you wanted that set as a tv channel in tvheadend. Even better would be if it would play them randomly and of course play another episode after the first one finished.

It is possible to have an tv-station with the vlc player, random playlist ist also possible, but the vlc streaming is not stable. Se https://tvheadend.org/d/4048-file-m3u-support for more.
