Hi there
Ubuntu 13.10
TBS6981 / Open source driver /Linux-DVB tree
tvheadend 3.9.470
XBMC 13.0 Gotham Beta 3
Tvheadend latest official addon / also tested new non master addon 0.6
Basically, every 20-30 channel change made in XBMC results in Buffering percentage counter increasing slowly 5%...17%...25%...42%....Up to 100% then channel switches and plays perfectly but with no sound, to get sound working, you have to switch to another channel, then back again. This behaviour seems completely random, and doesn't seem to have any bearing at all on signal strength or anything of that nature.
The usual situation would be for the channel to take approximately 2-3 seconds to change and video/audio appear and play smoothly, when the above happens the buffering indicator instead of appearing momentarily, appears for approximately 10-12 seconds before as described counting up slowly then perfect video but no audio until a channel change.
I've had problems like this since a long time, but now with tvheadend really starting to take shape, the open source driver for the TBS6981 and XBMC finally taking shape also, this is the last of those annoying problems that remains so felt that I'd post it up. This problem manifests itself in all versions of Ubuntu I've tried (10.x/11.x/13.x) all recent versions of XBMC (Frodo 12.0,1,2 / Gotham Beta 3 and various nightlies over the past few months and all recent versions of tvheadend on 3.9.x
