RTL2832 detected, what next ?

I bought a cheap USB TV dongle.
It's based on RTL2832
I had Ubuntu 12.10 and tvheadend install OK.
But it didn't see the dongle.
Install Ubuntu 13.10
Couldn't get tvheadend to install, eventually build from source, ver 3.9.379.
Now runs and detects

When I select it I get a window titled "Parameters", but don't know what to do next.

The Parameters window doesn't look like any online examples.

Any ideas what I should do next?

Is it likely to work?

I've only moved to this version today, so I may mislead you, but...

I think you need to add a network first - type=DVB-T, then enough information to identify it and, perhaps, auto-populate your muxes, although you may have to look them up on t'internet and add those manually as well. Once you have those, you can associate the tuner with the network in the Parameters window you have in front of you.

OK will have a little play tonight when I get home from work.
Is there any recommended site to read up on such things.
I know about computers and programming etc. but not up to speed on tuner concepts.

Wahay
Pratted around for a while.
Then discarded the provided little indoor aerial.
And stuffed my proper TV aerial into the dongle.
Down loaded VLC
Tininternet provided a url
http://localhost:9981/playlist/channels And bingo a nice TV program to watch.
Not bad from a £6.69 dongle (post free).
Going to have more of a play...
Back soonish...

Just an update ...
Most my XBMC clients have the PVR option.
Some strangely don't, but that's an XBMC problem.
It works a treat. Loads of Freeview SDTV and Radio channels.
It's not HD but for £6.69 who cares.

Records programs OK and I can play them back through Servio.

Currently it's plugged into my big Dell Unbuntu 13.10 server.
Might have a play around with my PI, as I don't normally leave the Dell on.

I only Wake it On LAN when it's required.

Fiddling ....
