TVHeadend (or XBMC?) hangs at channel changes
first of all sorry for my english and all my dumb questions.
Recently i set up an HTPC running XBMC Eden on Mythbuntu 12.04.
Zotac Mag HD ND 01 connected via HDMI to Philipps TV.
Opera1 DVB-S USB2.0
i put these drivers :
Installed XBMC with PVR
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pulse-eight/pulse
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc tvheadend xbmc-bin
Basically Live TV and recording works.
Changing the channels results in complete freezing of live TV or video stops, sound changes to the next channel.
From time to time recording doesnot work (TVHeadend states : Time Missed, although HTPC was running at scheduled time).
Let me know what further infos you need......
Can you first test watching tv without xbmc ( so go to <Ip-addres>:9981)
In that way you can make sure the problem has to do with tvheadend and not with xbmc.
There is a debug-output-mode in tvheadend ( button on the bottem right, on top of the outputsection), so you might get some usefull information when watching tv from tvheadend directly and then switching channel...
It's a really long time the answer was written, but I'll give it a go.
I have the exact same problem.
But, I only use the TVheadEnd HTSP PVR in kodi running on a raspberry pi 3.
When switching channel the picture 9 cases out of 10 freezes. But I do hear the sound from the switched channel.
Year I am also seeing the same issue here.
I am running the following setup
Linux Ubuntu 16.04 server with 16gb ram etc, i7....
Tvheadend version 4.1-2378~gca4ac74~xenial
Raspberry Pi3 running OSCM with kodi with PVR tvheadend client addon version 2.20
Raspberry Pi3 running Openelec 7.0.5BETA with kodi... Same tvheadend client.
When I change channels after maybe 5-8 channels changes the picture freezes, and the buffer is trying to catch up, (bar in the button of the picture tell me that it´s buffering) The sound is running on the new channel.... I can change channel again but only sounds is changing here.
Same here. Using OSMC (Kodi) on my RPi2 with Tvheadend HTSP Client. Tvheadend Server runs on a separate server.
Hangs (freezing of picture - audio ongoing) appeare if I change from any channel (SD or HD) to a HD channel. Always!
Workaround: Stop playback of live TV, than start HD channel.
You guys need to add the mpeg2 license for your raspberrys. That solved the problem for me!
Ok how to to that??
Well, google raspberry pi license and you'll find https://www.raspberrypi.com.
SSH your raspberry and do cat /proc/cpuinfo
You'll find the serial number for your pi. Copy it and buy the license.
After this you use google again and do a search for how to edit the config.txt file.
Add the license in the file, check weather the license is enabled through ssh.
Reboot the rasp and you're done!
Now it works, thanks a lot for that hint
