DVB-T Muxes out of date - UK, Hannington transmitter

Added by Steve H 6 months ago

Does anyone have, or is able to point me in the direction of up to date information for the Hannington transmitter muxes ?
I'm missing a few channels using the built in settings.

It would appear that the COM7 & COM8 muxes are missing, and although I have the frequencies (746MHz and 754MHz respectively), I'm not sure of the other values required to manually set up the mux in TVH.

https://ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Hannington

Depending on the tuner you're using you can usually leave most other settings as 'auto'. I believe mine needed Delivery System set to DVB/T2 and Bandwidth to 8MHz then TVH picked up the rest.

The transmitter data included with TVH is sourced from https://github.com/tvheadend/dtv-scan-tables - it would be helpful to feed back any corrections to help other users.

Note that ukfree.tv is not always accurate/up-to-date. I use Tacolneston transmitter, for example and ukfree lists COM7 & COM8 as 746 MHz and 754 MHz but they're actually on 746 MHz and 674 MHz. It's better to use utilities like w_scan and dvbv5-scan but even so some manual playing about in Configuration/DVB Inputs/Muxes may be necessary to get all the channels. The other reference to use are Ofcom's spreadsheets from https://www.ofcom.org.uk/spectrum/information/transmitter-frequency

The problem is that the data keeps going out of date because they move channels around the spectrum from time to time, so the on-air transmitted data and Ofcom's data are better.

Could it be the some as to what happened to Crystal Palace, COM 7 and COM 8 are now on channels 55 and 56 respectively, a Group A aerial will not give satisfactory reception of those,
so a wideband aerial is now required. A Group A aerial is fine for channels 21 to 35 but not above that.

If you go to http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/index/dummy/NA/yes and put in your full post code and house number,
you will be shown the current arrangements as well as the future plans for further changes. If you have a wideband aerial fitted
now it will be suitable for all changes foreseen in the future.

Pleas let us know the outcome of your findings.
